Objectives: 1) Compare the capabilities of the SCOOT and CowPIE programs. 2) Compare the capabilities of the SCOOT and CowPIE programs. 3) Explain how to program the SCOOT and the CowPIE programs. 4) What additional capabilities do these programs have that are not in SCOOT? 5) What additional capabilities do these programs have that are not in CowPIE?
Procedures: The test file (in both formats) was designed by Mr. Larry Avery. The program was written by Mr. Larry Avery using Delphi. The test file was changed to see how well the programs would run when not running off the machine that the test file was written on. A desktop computer was used for this test. The desktop computer was set up with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition and Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit Edition installed. One of these 32-bit editions was chosen by the author for this test. The language used in the programs is Delphi 7. This was the author’s first attempt at writing programs. The program was written to run on 32-bit Windows 7 operating systems only. It was written to be a simple interactive program. The functions of the program are: 1) The program starts up with a picture of a cow. This picture could be changed or replaced by the author. 2) The program displays a picture of a landscape and a number of animals. The picture is divided into a number of areas. The number of animals in the picture were changed during this test. 3) The program displays the animals and their respective percentages. This test also demonstrated how to display a picture in a panel control. 4) The program was then closed. 5) The above programs were written in Delphi 7. A direct comparison of the capabilities of the SCOOT and CowPIE programs would be difficult to accomplish. The author chose to do this test by comparing the SCOOT program to the CowPIE program. The author would prefer to compare the SCOOT program to a program written in Pascal. This would be more of a fair comparison of the two programs. While writing this test, the author learned that a lot of information is available from the Web. The author used the Internet to obtain additional information that was not available on the program disk. The author would like to thank all of the people that have participated in this test.
